A vicarious life?
This beggar lived like a king,
with seers, prophets, a Saviour.
Lived in tradition,
isn’t all life vicarious,
empathetic, once neighbour as one’s self?
Yes, but this man loved reading:
his neighbors were all ghosts, and
he spent his life seeing them.
